Choosing a rug that perfectly matches your interior

Looking for the perfect rug? One that fits your interior exactly? We can understand that it is not always easy to make a good choice. There is so much on offer that sometimes the choice becomes very difficult. We would therefore like to tell you why it is nice to have a rug in your home and what to look for when you want one that matches your interior perfectly.

The advantages of a rug

We asked several customers about the reasons behind the rug purchase. Their motivations vary considerably. We have therefore listed the main reasons.

Nice and warm, especially in winter

It should be no secret that an area rug makes it a lot nicer if you like to walk barefoot on the floor, especially in a winter with freezing temperatures.

Extra character

A rug is not just meant to fill up your interior, it can also add a bit of atmosphere to your home, in addition to giving a warm feeling.

Perfect for the kids

When small children like to play on the floor, it is sometimes very useful to have a rug. If a child falls, and unfortunately this does happen sometimes, they will fall nicely on a soft rug and not on a hard floor.

Noise reduction

Another important reason to purchase a rug is to reduce any noise that may be heard through the ceilings and floors. This problem is especially prevalent in flat blocks and old houses. The rug provides an extra layer that absorbs the sound vibrations but, above all, dampens the noise.

Note the dimensions

When deciding on the size of your rug, there are a few points to consider. First of all: look at the entire room. It is not common to lay the rug flush against the wall. Lay the rug half a metre from the wall, for example. This avoids difficulties with cleaning. Also, the sofa and other pieces of furniture sometimes affect the size of the rug. Because, the rug completely under the sofa or a bit under the piece of furniture requires a certain size.

Thick or low-pile

When we distinguish between the different types of rugs, we mainly look at the thickness of the rug. If there are long threads coming out, which make the rug a bit thicker, we call it thick rug. If these threads are short and therefore the rug is thinner, we call it low pile. Which variant you need depends on the application. For noise reduction, a thicker rug is obviously more convenient.

Which colour?

You are probably familiar with the different types of rugs by now. Then it’s time to choose the right colour for the rug. If you are cautious, choose a sombre colour. Then you can never go wrong. If you are looking for a little more excitement, you can opt for bright green or even a red rug. Whatever you do, make sure it matches the current style of your interior.
