Industrial rugs

Suddenly it was there: the industrial interior design. Lots of concrete, steel, raw wood. Simple and powerful. An industrial rug completes this tough and robust style.

Tough rug; raw and industrial

A brick wall, a floor of concrete, lamps made of black metal: the industrial living style is like walking into a factory building. These materials and colours are enhanced by an industrial rug on the floor. You can recognise such a rug by its raw look. Colours such as pale blue, grey or rust are frequently used. For example, in these vintage rugs. The ornate pattern on these rugs contrasts nicely with the raw surroundings.

An industrial rug can be made of different materials. Again, you can opt for contrast, for example, by combining a soft wool rug with the hard materials from the rest of the decor. Or you can choose a rug that already has a tough look of its own, to further emphasise the industrial atmosphere. For example, consider a rug made of jute.

A good mix is important

Remember that too much of a good thing is often not good at all. Your living room shouldn’t look like a shed or factory hall; you should also be able to live comfortably. You can also get an industrial jute rug in round shapes. This breaks up the hard lines in the room a bit, and brings the room into a bit more balance. An animal skin on the modern sofa can add just that one soft touch that an industrial living room needs to feel cosy.

To create the right atmosphere, play not only with colours and materials, but also with shapes. ‘Mix and match’ different rugs with each other and look at the rest of your interior when buying a new rug. By matching your accessories to your rug, you can merge the living room furniture into a stylish, sturdy unit with that typical industrial look.

Use an industrial rug to highlight your showpiece

Do you have a beautiful industrial showpiece in your living room? A new sofa, a cool robust dining table or maybe even an antique machine? If so, you can make it stand out even more by placing an industrial rug underneath. No one will ignore your eye-catcher anymore.

Industrial rugs come in all shapes and sizes. To see which size looks best in your room, you can put some newspapers on the floor, or mark a certain size with tape on the floor. Once you have found a rug with us, you will know exactly what size you need and can order it online immediately. Within a few days, you will be the proud owner of a cool rug that will complete your industrial living space.
