A real interior freak: Yvonne Kwakkel

She calls herself a real interior freak: Yvonne Kwakkel. And if there’s one thing we love, it’s people who freak out on beautiful interiors! We already adore this interior stylist. But does she live up to it? 

Take a look at the Yvonne’s Instagram account and you can see that this lady knows what she’s doing when it comes to interior styling. One interior on her instafeed is even more beautiful than the other! Kwakkel is bursting with inspiration and good ideas, and loves to share it with us via her own website, DIY videos on YouTube and on Instagram where she has already more than 115,000 followers (!).

“I don’t do something because it’s fashionable”

Kwakkel started her cool account in response to a comment from a friend. Who said it would be a good idea to share photos of the interior of Yvonne’s new house via Instagram, and so it happened.  The Instagram account became a huge success. Yvonne: “That was definitely not my goal at first, my goal was to inspire people. But it soon became a lot of people.”

Followers seem to love Yvonne’s taste in interiors. You don’t have to expect an Ikea look from her; when it comes to furnishing, she mainly chooses her own path. She herself says: “I don’t do something because it’s fashionable, I really do something because it suits me.” The interior stylist’s favourite colours are green, rust, black/grey. And it shows in her Instagram photos, where these colours often recur.

Interior design trends for winter 2020/2021

“I understand that the grey concrete look is coming back, this combined with a special painting technique. Comes in handy, because this is something I was planning before I even heard about it.” Tells Yvonne Kwakkel in response to our question about the interior trends of winter 20/21.  “I’ve had this (the concrete look ed.)  before, and it still looks great combined with the industrial look. You will start to see a lot of natural elements back, such as plants and dried flowers.”

A little bit of fame

Looking for inspiration for a new interior does not do Yvonne Kwakkel any favours. Unless she happens to see something on TV or on Instagram. She never expected that she would gain so many followers on Instagram with her interior design account itself. So is she now famous? “I sometimes have someone address me in an interior design shop. Not always though.”

In many interior photos we see on the instagram feed of the interior stylist, who incidentally loves horse riding, we see rugs. Of course, we at Tapeso are very happy about that, as we think it’s a beautiful rug really completes an interior. Which rug from Tapeso would Yvonne Kwakkel recommend? “The new jute round rugs are really cool, and fit into everyone’s interior because they come in many colours.” We can only agree.
