The new year is upon us and that is always a great time to look back. Because, what were the most popular rugs of this year? We especially look at the questions we receive about rugs and the rugs people buy from us. From this, we can draw the conclusions below.

Oriental rugs are still surprisingly popular
You might expect that an oriental rug is a product of the past. We know these rugs mostly from Disney films like Aladin. Although you can’t really fly on oriental rugs, they are of course a wonderful addition to your interior. Especially if your home is already somewhat decorated in an oriental style, a matching rug should definitely not be missing.
Shapes keep changing
Looking at the different types of rugs, we noticed that the shapes keep changing constantly. In 2018, rectangular rugs were still the most popular among our customers, this year round rugs are back in a big way. How that can be explained is hard to say. As soon as we figure it out, you’ll hear about it!
Which is more popular? Thick or low-pile
In recent years, the demand for low-pile rugs has decreased considerably. Low-pile has been replaced in many cases by rugs and other low-cost solutions, for example. Currently, we therefore mainly offer thick rugs in our selection. The difference is in the thickness of the rugs: a high-pile rug is a lot thicker. This is useful if you use the rug to reduce noise from the floor, for example. It is also a lot warmer. Ideal if you like to walk on the floor with bare feet.
Increased demand for vintage rugs
Vintage rugs are the exception to the rule when we talk about low-pile rugs. New designs arrive every month and here at Tapeso we closely follows the trends. So you can enjoy the widest selection of designs.
